BA(Hons) Drama 

As Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning, Carmel leads on research-led teaching strategies and supporting teachers at every stage of their career to reflect on and improve their practice (including trainee teachers and ECTs) ensuring that high quality teaching is consistently delivered across the curriculum. Carmel is passionate about the science of learning and using evidence informed strategies that help all pupils learn, recall and apply their knowledge effectively.  

Carmel trained as a Drama teacher after studying Drama at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge and has taught Drama, Theatre Studies, Dance, and Musical Theatre in a range of settings. Before becoming Assistant Principal, Carmel was Head of the Performing Arts department at JAC and the Inspiration Trust Performing Arts Associate, leading Trust-wide continued professional development and working with teachers and curriculum leaders to strengthen curriculum design and develop teaching practice. This experience shaped her commitment to developing teaching practice in both theoretical and practical subjects, ensuring that all pupils are supported to make progress in the classroom through high quality and consistent pedagogy.
